Dubai is sharpening its focus on ensuring sustainable growth in line with the environmental objectives of Dubai Plan 2021 and the broader UAE Vision 2021.  Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 has already been set into motion to reinforce energy security through the diversification of energy sources as well as a 30 per cent reduction in energy and water consumption. A longer-term 2050 Dubai Clean Energy Strategy launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, envisions clean energy to dominate the energy mix by 2050.

Falconcity of Wonders LLC, the developer of the Falconcity of Wonders (FCW) multi-purpose mega project being built in Dubai, is throwing its full support behind Dubai’s sustainability vision via the latest edition of its exclusive eco-campaign being conducted in collaboration with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).

‘Save the Nature’ 2016 once again challenges citizens to proactively support the conservation of critical resources in response to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed’s call for fostering a culture of sustainability and environmental stewardship. The water and electricity conservation competition will reward residents logging the least electricity and water usage at their premises during the campaign period which extends from March 1 to August 31, 2016. The contest is open to FCW residents and tenants only who will compete under five categories based on built-up area and who must reduce their utility consumption by 7 per cent or above.

Applicants can register at the FCW City Hall Office (Villa WR 12-13) and will have to bring their ID, Title Deed or Tenancy Contract, and DEWA account number. The winners will be announced on September 10, 2016 at Falconcity of Wonders’ website, http://falconcity.com.

‘Save the Nature’ is a centerpiece initiative under FCW’s comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform which prioritizes the responsible use of energy and water resources within the community. It is intended to advance the development’s emergence as a model of modern sustainable living complementing the ambitious local and national environmental agendas.

H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said: “I commend Falconcity of Wonders for launching the “Save the Nature” contest. It is an important awareness initiative that supports DEWA’s effort in encouraging customers to use resources sensibly and reducing their consumption of electricity and water to promote a sustainable way of life as a daily practice in society. We are pleased to cooperate with developers, organisations, and companies in initiatives that encourage customers to adopt sensible practices, and raise awareness on the importance of following environmentally-friendly practices to protect our natural resources. These efforts are in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to establish the Emirate’s environmental sustainability, making Dubai the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world.”

Mr. Alharith bin Salem Almoosa, Vice Chairman and Deputy General Manager, Falconcity of Wonders LLC, said: “The latest edition of ‘Save the Nature’ carries on the momentum of the competition’s highly successful debut last year. It reiterates FCW’s firm commitment to encouraging our residents to ‘think green’ and become proactive eco-advocates who can truly make a difference in the future of our environment. It also affirms our solidarity with DEWA and the government of Dubai in taking a responsible path towards growth and development. The conservation and protection of our resources is a shared mission that FCW will continue to rally towards alongside our residents, team members and leaders.”
