UN-Habitat and the Embassy of Japan in Lebanon expand partnership by signing a US$900,000 project to be implemented in Tripoli

Building on a longstanding global partnership, the Government of Japan and the United Nations Human Settlements programme (UN-Habitat) have signed a new project totalling US$900,000. This new partnership was marked at the Japanese Embassy in Beirut and by the Japanese Ambassador to Lebanon, H.E. Magoshi Masayuki, and Head of UN-Habitat Lebanon Country Programme, Taina Christiansen.

UN-Habitat and the Republic of Korea in Lebanon sign a US$ 500,000 project to supply and install renewable energy solutions for public facilities in Zahle

The Republic of Korea in Lebanon and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) signed today an agreement for US$ 500,000 to implement renewable energy solutions for facilities providing public services in Zahle.

The signing ceremony was held at the Korean Embassy in Beirut and co-signed by the Korean Ambassador to Lebanon, H.E. Mr. Il Park, and Head of UN-Habitat Lebanon Country Programme, Taina Christiansen.

10 unions of municipalities set to enhance planning capacities for local socioeconomic development

UN-Habitat, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and the Ministry of Social Affairs held a kick-off workshop on improving planning capacities for social and economic local development, with ten unions of municipalities from across Lebanon to relaunch the activities of the UN-Habitat-led project, funded by AICS, entitled, “Support to local communities in Lebanon: Improving local socioeconomic development planning through strengthened local planning capacities at the unions/clusters of municipalities level.”

UN-Habitat and Italy sign a €2.3m project to rehabilitate public spaces within the Mar Mikhael train station and restore housing units in Beirut

The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), signed a two-year agreement to rehabilitate and revitalize the public space area of Mar Mikhael railway station in Beirut and restore damaged housing units within the blast-affected area.
