DEWA delivers three electric cars to winners of Smart Services campaign

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) honoured the three grand prize winners of its smart services campaign with three brand new electric cars. The campaign was launched to encourage customers to adopting a culture of using smart services in a sustainable way, to support the Dubai Plan 2021 to make Dubai a smart, integrated, and connected city that uses its resources sustainably, and whose environmental elements are clean, healthy, sustainable, proactive and creative in meeting the needs of individuals and society as a whole. The campaign fully-complements DEWA’s strategy to become sustainable innovative world-class utility.

Humaid Issa Buhumaid, Manager of the Smart Adoptation department at DEWA, awarded the three new electric cars to Mazmal Mohammed Shoaeeb, Philip Patrick Mark and Arf Kruz. The electric vehicles are part of DEWA’s Green Charger initiative, where DEWA provides electric charging stations across Dubai to encourage residents to use them and contribute in preserving the environment while also enhancing the Emirate’s leading position as a global sustainable city.

Customers who paid their full electricity and water bills for six consecutive months through DEWA’s smart app and website www.dewa.gov.ae and use of their smart devices or phones between August 2015 and March 2016 were made eligible for the raffle draw.

“DEWA continuously strives to develop its smart services based on the latest international standards, which is part of its commitment to enhance the leading position of Dubai and the UAE in adopting the latest technologies and the ongoing development of government services. DEWA’s app introduces a new and innovative way of displaying the services by providing a single integrated package that provides all the offerings and features that the user needs on its homepage. The app gives users the option to add other accounts to their main account, so that they can manage more than one account at the same time,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“DEWA realises the importance of keeping up to date with changes in society and the emergence of technological advancements, by providing innovative and high-quality services and initiatives that enhance the experience of all its customers. DEWA adopts an integrated strategy to provide the best government services by adopting the best international practices. This achieves the directives of our wise government to provide connected, green, and integrated services, capable of facilitating quality of life for all the residents of Dubai,” added Al Tayer.

“Our smart services campaign aims to enhance our efforts to increase our customers’ use of our smart initiatives and encourage them to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. We gave the grand prize winners three new electric cars, which supports the directives of our wise government to reduce the use of oil and find alternative sources of energy,” said Moza Al Akraf, CIO of DEWA.

We have done this by looking to the future, adopting the most up-to-date technological solutions, and working in relation to positive suggestions offered by our customers and stakeholders, transitioning to smart services to meet their aspirations and achieve their happiness,” said Al Akraf.

DEWA offers its services via its smart application, which supports a range of operating systems, including iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows, Samsung entertainment devices, Samsung Gear watches, Apple Watches, and eLife by Etisalat.
