DMCA to participate at Dubai International Boat Show 2015 with theme of ‘Maritime Innovation’
February 15, 2015 Dubai, United Arab Emirates Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubai’s maritime sector, has revealed completion of its preparations for their participation at this year’s edition of the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS), the largest, most important and most established event of its kind in the region, which will be held from March 3 to March 7, 2015. DMCA’s participation, which is inspired by various elements of maritime innovation, will include the launch of the latest smart innovative services and applications that have been developed to facilitate the smooth, efficient and fast completion of transactions with the Authority. The move falls in line with the UAE’s efforts to becoming a leading smart government, thereby providing a high quality of life for its citizens and residents. Image5-300x192.jpg “Maritime Innovation” represents one of the most distinctive features of DMCA’s participation in the twenty-third session of the "Dubai International Boat Show". DMCA will showcase marine craft licensing portfolio and new smart applications that has been developed based on ideas aimed at achieving a highly-renewable and sustainable maritime sector. The DMCA stand will also be providing marine craft licensing services and marine driving licensing services, which have become mandatory in Dubai since the start of 2015.   Meanwhile, the ‘Maritime Safety and Environmental Security’ app is expected to draw large interest from DIBS participants as it features the DMCA’s Maritime Safety Policy and other essential information like speed limits and beach break areas along the emirate’s coastline. The Authority will also be distributing English and Arabic versions of the ‘Dubai Powerboat Handbook.’ The Arabic version is the first and only version in the world to be offered in this language and covers the use of boats with engines. Both versions will be distributed free-of-charge at the event.   Amer Ali, Executive Director, DMCA, said, “Our presence at the 23rd edition of DIBS is a continuation of the momentum that we have gained from participating in previous editions of the show. This year, we will be throwing the spotlight on a wide range of smart services and applications that have been designed using the latest technological innovations in the maritime industry. Participating at this year’s DIBS demonstrates our commitment towards supporting the goals of the ‘National strategy for innovation,’ which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to be among the ranks of the world’s most innovative countries.”   Ali added: “We are also looking forward to strengthen our communication ties with the maritime sector’s top decision makers, businessmen, investors and experts—creating a strategic platform to exchange best practices, industry knowledge and access to the industry’s latest innovations, which can represent important additions in enhancing the competitiveness of the international and local maritime segment while also reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global maritime hub.”   DMCA’s participation at DIBS 2015 is also aimed towards increasing awareness on safe operation conditions, environmental requirements and security & safety standards that must be met at yacht clubs and private and public marinas in Dubai. At the show, visitors at the DMCA stand will be taught about maritime safety procedures that should be followed by amateur and professional sportsmen while driving marine crafts of all kinds, with the aim of building a renewed and secure maritime sector in Dubai.
