2018 ThinQ® AI TVs from LG Electronics (LG) will be compatible with Amazon Alexa devices, giving users the ability to issue voice commands to their existing Amazon Alexa devices – including Amazon Echo, Echo Show, Echo Dot and Echo Spot – to control their LG TV. Using Amazon Alexa platform-based devices, LG TV viewers can access a number of TV functions such as volume, play, pause, start, stop, fast forward controls, channel selection and content search, among others.

Users can experience the advanced AI voice capabilities of their LG ThinQ AI TV with the comprehensive features of Amazon Alexa. For example, you can issue voice commands such as, “Alexa, turn up the volume on my living room TV” or “Alexa, change channel to CNN on my kitchen TV.” You can also open specific apps on the TV by saying “Alexa, ask LG to launch YouTube on my bedroom TV” to get the job done without having to speak into LG’s Magic Remote.

“LG has long been committed to developing TVs that combine innovative technologies with convenient, user-friendly interfaces and adding Amazon Alexa to the long list of webOS capabilities is consistent with this strategy,” said Brian Kwon, president of LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “LG’s 2018 webOS-enabled TVs gives customers the added capabilities of Alexa on their TVs without giving up any of the features of LG ThinQ, which can still be accessed with LG Magic Remote.”

English-based Amazon Alexa voice support will be offered on LG’s 2018 ThinQ AI TVs starting in the United States.
