Al Islami Foods holds 'Kitchen on Ice' at Dubai Mall's Ice Rink to encourage healthy eating habits during Ramadan

Social-awareness event is being held to help encourage the practice of healthy eating habits

Al Islami Foods, one of the UAE’s pioneering food production houses that specializes in halal chicken and frozen foods, is set to hold its 'Kitchen on Ice' program on June 3, 2016 at Dubai Ice Rink, the Olympic-sized ice rink at the heart of The Dubai Mall. The social-awareness event is being held to help encourage and guide foodies, home cooks and families to practice healthy eating habits during the coming Holy Month of Ramadan. The day-long program, which will run from 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM, will feature cooking demos, competitions, kids’ cooking classes, kids’ arts and crafts, food tasting hub, chefs and nutrition consultation. The 'Kitchen on Ice' program is being organized by Al Islami Foods under the theme, 'In Ramadan, we share and care.'

According to a recent survey that measured food consumption behaviours in the UAE, more and more people are now turning towards practicing good eating habits, which plays a key role in countering obesity and reducing the risk of getting a life-style related disease. Meanwhile, another survey conducted during the first quarter of 2016 has shown that at least one in three citizens make it a point to include fresh fruits and vegetables daily in their diet--helping destroy the free radicals that can severely damage one's health.

“The Holy Month of Ramadan is not only a time meant for meditation and prayer but also a great time for families and friends to come together for Iftar—enjoying great food and the company of people who are closest to you,” said Brent Pearson, CFO, Al Islami Foods. “With this in mind, we have organized the ‘Kitchen on Ice’ program to encourage everyone to practice healthy eating habits during Ramadan. The event is expected to teach healthy, new and creative recipes that can be served during evening meals while also taking part in other activities that we have lined up for the day. This initiative reflects our aims of promoting a healthier Ramadan and our commitment of sharing and caring.”

Visitors to Dubai Ice Rink will also get a chance to talk to SCAFA - School of Culinary and Finishing Arts chefs and a Nutritionist brought by BBC Good Food Magazine.   A special talk will also be given by a resource speaker covering frozen food storing tips. Al Islami Food's 'Kitchen on Ice' program is in partnership with SCAFA Dubai.
