Jiu-jitsu heroes from all four corners of the globe are in the final throes of preparation for the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2019, the 11th edition of the most important event on the jiu-jitsu global calendar, which runs from 20-26 April under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

SCHOOL STUDENTS TO CHALLENGE IN ANNUAL FORMULA ETHARA CHALLENGE AT YAS MARINA CIRCUIT

Teams of school students from across the UAE and Oman are preparing to battle for a place on the winners’ podium at this year’s Formula Ethara National Finals competition.

This weekend a total of 50 teams, made up of 191 students from 24 schools, will take part in the annual event that sees youngsters race scale model paper race cars using skills learned in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) classes.

Noor Bank Presents Works by Emirati Artist Fatma Lootah

Noor Bank, the UAE’s leading Shari’ah-compliant bank, is showcasing the works of renowned Emirati artist Fatma Lootah at the Noor Art Gallery on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Running until 1 May, the exhibition offers a glimpse of the artist’s interpretation of femininity and movement. Celebrating Emirati culture and heritage, Lootah’s work combines abstract figurative painting using acrylics and digital art. Her paintings were projected off the iconic NASDAQ building at New York’s Times Square in 2018.

City Walk, the design-inspired open-air lifestyle neighbourhood by Meraas, is gearing up to host the return of its popular 10-day motoring celebration ‘City Overdrive’.

The event runs from 11th April through 20th April 2019 and will showcase over 80 rare, uniquely custom-built cars, vintage models, super cars, monster trucks and modified bikes – such as the GTR RB 34, vintage Mini Cooper Rat Rods – that have previously not taken to the UAE’s tarmac.
