UAE the first country in the world outside Canada to receive the Canadian Diamond Accreditation Certificate for all dental centers of the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention

As an unprecedented achievement and the first of its kind in the world, the United Arab Emirates received the Canadian Diamond Accreditation Certificate for all dental centers of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, which makes it the first health institution in the world outside Canada to receive this high accreditation.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention announced that the certificate was granted based on the report of the Canadian Experts after a detailed and rigorous evaluation of all dental centers by a specialized team from the Canadian Accreditation Program. The evaluation was conducted according to the international standards and included identification of management’s compliance with quality, patient safety, medicines management, infection control and occupational safety. As a result of this evaluation, the Ministry of Health and Prevention proved a 97% commitment to these international standards.

Al Owais: Establishing a health system with international standards

In this context, HE Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health & Prevention, affirmed that the journey in the UAE for achieving high quality standards continues and keep pushing to underline new trends in the fields of leadership, excellence and records in the global competitiveness according to the indicators and reports issued by many prestigious institutions in the domain of  international accreditations, and on the occasion of the triumphant path towards the United Arab Emirates (UAE) 2071 which is based on  the directives of the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that all health facilities to receive the international accreditation certificate by 2021 to achieve an effective and sustainable health system for Saeed society.

H.E. said that this global achievement represents an international recognition of the UAE and affirms the legitimacy of our national strategies, the efficiency of our health system and our comprehensive and innovative health services within the highest quality standards, thanks to the leadership's keenness to harness the best potentials and resources to achieve the sustainable development strategy 2030, and to establish a health system with international standards to make the UAE one of the best countries in the quality of health care according to the objectives of the National Agenda for the vision of the UAE 2021..

Al Owais added: "We are proud of  this achievement, which comes as part of the series of achievements done by UAE recently in the health sector, which ranked first in the world, for the fourth year in a row, with respect to the number of accredited health facilities by Joint Commission International, and thus demonstrates the desire of UAE as it continues in its achievements and compete in some vital global fields in accordance with the National Innovation Strategy and the UAE strategy to envision the future. "

Mohammed Al Olama: Achievement enhances the competitiveness of the health sector

His Excellency (H.E.) Dr Mohammad Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, said that the accreditation of ministry's specialized dental centers for the Canadian Diamond Accreditation as the first health institution in the world outside Canada, it is a tribute to the country's achievements and enhances its competitiveness and global leadership in the health sector which ensure the provision of the best and highest standards of health and therapeutic services within the international accreditation standards and achieves the Ministry's strategy of providing comprehensive and integrated health care, developing health information systems, building quality systems and safes health systems, providing excellent management services, instilling a culture of innovation and improving the quality of clinical care according to the best international standards to improve the National Indicator for the percentage of health facilities to meet the international accreditation standards according to the objectives of the National Agenda 2021..

He pointed to the ministry's keenness to provide the best treatment and diagnostic services and medical consultations and improve health care to conform to the standards of the best health facilities in the world. He explained that the ministry is keeping abreast of the global changes in the health care sector by developing policies, procedures, protocols and best practices, applying international accreditation standards to improve the services provided by health centers, enhancing the safety of patients in the UAE, adopting proactive strategies and continuing to improve the medical performance indicators and the integration of artificial intelligence into medical services..

Dr. Al Olama valued the outstanding results achieved by the Ministry thanks to the leadership and medical and administrative staff. He added that this achievement is part of our plans to complete the health accreditation of all our 29 health facilities to enhance the global confidence in our health sector based on international standards specialized in the field of hospitals and specialized clinics and specialized dental clinics. This achievement is the first of its kind in the world according to the report provided by the accredited official entities of the Canadian Ministry of Health. This remarkable achievement is added to the achievements of the ministry that has been a pioneer in this domain during the past four years

Dr. Hussein Abdulrahman Rand: Achievement is the culmination of two years' efforts

Dr. Hussein Abdulrahman Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for Health Centres said that this achievement culminated in the work of the Ministry for two years to find the best international standards for the adoption of specialized dental centers in the ministry with the Canadian Accreditation team to implement international standards recognized by the International Committee for Quality in Health. In accordance with the directives of His Excellency the Minister, the Ministry has harnessed all possibilities to implement these international standards specialized in dental care.

He said: "The preparation program included the restructuring of some procedures and processes to comply with international infection control standards, as well as the detailed review and redesign of specialized dental laboratories to confirm the implementation of WHO-approved global safety programs, including occupational safety during surgical or interventional procedures in teeth treatment to avoid any complications of the patients or cause any medical error.

On the other hand, the team focused on the importance of the treatment plan in the dental centers on the patient's condition and integration in the case of treatment and community involvement in the design of therapeutic and diagnostic and preventive dental services. The team also focused on the importance of preventive program in the program of specialized dental care, which included prevention of health for school students in coordination with local and international partners concerned with oral and dental health and the ministry was distinguished in this regard.

The development of the international accreditation program in the Ministry of Health is one of the most successful programs at the ministry level. The program started with the adoption of one health institution in December 2013 and now it has 29 accredited health institutions from hospital, health center, blood transfusion center, specialized dental center, which indicates the real and practical commitment of the senior leadership in the ministry and the availability of professional cadres to overcome the difficulties and deal with the various challenges to complete this achievement.
