DEWA celebrates World Water Day

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is celebrating World Water Day with environmental activities to support international efforts to protect natural resources. World Water Day takes place every 22 March and this year’s theme is ‘Better water, better jobs.’ World Water Day raises awareness about the importance of sustainable development.

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment joins the global celebration of World Water Day, which is being held under the slogan, ‘Water and Jobs.’ This worldwide celebration aims to showcase the ability of the water sector to provide job opportunities, thereby helping out in the move to eradicate global poverty while also enhancing work environment conditions and promote an increase in productivity and improved efficiencies among all employees.

UAE Water Aid takes part in Dubai International Humanitarian Aid & Development Conference & Exhibition

The UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, will participate in the 13th Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference & Exhibition (DIHAD), which will take place at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre from 21-23 March 2016, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.

On World Water Day, HE Saeed Mohammed AL Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) , said that, “Today we celebrate World Water Day, under the theme “Better Water, Better Jobs,” to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable development. Water resources and services alike improve the social wellbeing of all humanity, by providing food and energy security, and improving the general health of both people and the environment. This supports the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, set by the United Nations (UN).”
