Lanvin announces the appointment of its new Creative Director
PARIS, 21st January 2019 – Lanvin SA (“Lanvin”) is proud to announce the appointment of Bruno Sialelli as Creative Director of Lanvin The house of Lanvin is pleased to announce the appointment of Bruno Sialelli as the incoming Creative Director, marking a pivotal new direction in the storied Parisian brand’s modern evolution. After a thorough and extensive application process involving an incredible array of talented designers, Sialelli stood out for his modern vision for Lanvin and impressed with a dynamic and thoroughly detailed approach to understanding the integral elements of Lanvin’s DNA, together with his exciting articulation of its future. His impressive pitch was notable for its youthful translation of Lanvin’s heritage, presented with a confidence and energy that precisely embodies this new chapter in the house’s history. “We’re thrilled to welcome Bruno as the new Creative Director of Lanvin,” says Jean-Philippe Hecquet, Lanvin’s Chief Executive Officer. “His singular and very personal vision, his audacity, his culture, his energy and ability to build a strong creative team definitely convinced us. I can’t wait to discover Bruno’s first collections which will fully bring back to life this beautiful and unique fashion house, and once again inspire a passion among our customers.” Sialelli will join us from his position of Menswear Designer Director at Loewe, where he reported to J.W. Anderson. Previous to that, he had accrued extensive experience as Pre-collection Womenswear Designer at Balenciaga, working under both Nicolas Ghesquière and Alexander Wang, before becoming Senior Womenswear Designer at Acne Studios, and then at Paco Rabanne. His proven ability to seamlessly transition between menswear and womenswear will stand Lanvin in great stead as luxury fashion increasingly blurs the boundaries between the sexes. Sialelli’s vision of a modern Lanvin is fresh and Lanvin looks forward to his contemporary interpretations of the house’s iconic codes, while introducing many of his own. "I am delighted and honoured to join Lanvin, a house founded by a visionary woman who among the first French couturiers dared to offer a global universe with a very wide field of expression,” explains Sialelli. “Bringing emotions through compelling stories and defining a modern attitude are going to be exciting challenges in continuing this legacy.” Joann Cheng, Chairman of Fosun Fashion Group, which acquired Lanvin last February, added “We are excited to see the dynamism that will be brought to this great house through the complementary combination of Bruno’s creative talent with Jean-Philippe’s energetic and singular corporate direction.”
