AUBMC Inaugurates the Medical Administration Building
A new milestone towards the AUBMC 2020 Vision (January 29, 2015) Beirut, Lebanon – The American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) celebrated the inauguration of its new Medical Administration Building (MAB) on Monday January 19, 2015. The inauguration was held in the presence of AUB Board of Trustees and AUBMC senior leadership, and was followed by a guided tour of the facility. Khuri Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. “The AUBMC 2020 Vision is an ambitious and comprehensive plan to transform medical care in Lebanon and the region, to a new level of excellence, not only through state-of-the-art facilities, medical teams, patient care, and education but also through providing a harmonious work culture for employees,” he added.   The new Medical Administration Building whose main accessible entrance is set off of Cairo Street and is adjacent to the main building of the Medical Center, is a 10-story building that includes three underground and seven above ground floors. It will house several administrative and operational functions of the Medical Center including different departments such as those related to purchasing, finance, human resources etc., which were previously scattered around several medical campus buildings and rented spaces. “The new building is part of the expansion plan the Medical Center is undergoing,” added Dr. Sayegh. By moving several administrative and support functions to MAB, AUBMC will be able to expand services including the international patient services, specialty clinics administration, and lab facility. The free space will allow more room for the Hemodialysis Unit whose beds will increase from 11 to 24 and provide additional space for the radiology department, child psychiatry clinics, and many other services and departments. Two other major milestones from the AUBMC 2020 Vision occurred in 2014, the inauguration of the Wassef and Souad Sawwaf Building and the receipt of a generous donation to support the AUBMC 2020 from Mr. Jamal Daniel and the Levant Foundation, resulting in the naming of the Halim and Aida Daniel Academic and Clinical Center, which is considered to be a landmark in the development of the AUBMC 2020 Medical Complex and is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
