“Fitness Lebanon”, a National Movement by Al-MAWARID Bank S.A.L.

Beirut, 16th of April 2014: With the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle and encouraging the culture of sports and fitness in Lebanon, AL-MAWARID Bank S.A.L. announced the launch of its national movement “Fitness Lebanon” in an exclusive press conference held at “U Energy Beirut” in the presence of Mrs. May el Khalil, President of the Beirut Marathon Association, BMA representatives and key journalists, media members, bloggers, and the bank’s stakeholders.

Welcoming the guests, Mrs. Diala Kassem, Chief Retail Officer of AL-MAWARID Bank S.A.L. declared: “Supporting healthy living and fitness has always been a part of our corporate strategy, and it is for this reason we have taken the lead in launching a movement that would enhance people’s wellbeing”. “The beneficial effects of leading a healthy lifestyle are not limited to physical ones, but also lead to positive minds and dynamic spirits. We are confident Fitness Lebanon will help create positive societies in Lebanon and generate more energy and vigor”, she concluded.

Mrs. May el Khalil, BMA President, said: “We are grateful for Al-MAWARID Bank for initiating this movement which is much in line with our vision, especially the Women’s Race, which happens on May 4th this year and which was created stemming from the success of the Beirut Marathon Association. We are grateful for our supporters and the people of Lebanon who truly believe in the importance of sports year on year”.

Following the press conference, all invitees including Al-MAWARID Bank S.A.L. team members, dressed in “fit” attires to promote the Fitness Lebanon movement and were given the opportunity to participate in a series of sporting classes and activities hosted by U Energy Beirut coaches. Guests also received body analysis tests by a dietician, all while enjoying healthy snacks and delicious Qi juices. Al-MAWARID also launched a competition on social media whereby people take “selfies” while working out and upload them on different social media platforms. Winners will be announced end of May and receive gifts from Khoury Home, and Virgin Megastores, among others.

Sponsoring the Women’s Race on May 4th is the first of many activities Al-MAWARID Bank S.A.L. will be conducting throughout the year to engage with the community and promote a healthier lifestyle, through physical and civic education, communication, incentives, articles, and many other activities, all in order to create healthier bodies, healthier minds, and a more dynamic generation.
