The panel was attended by Alfa CEO and Chairman Marwan Hayek, media women and mothers’, and Alfa team.

The mothers in the media sector discussed the challenges faced by mothers in the media sector, success stories, and the secrets of continuity as well as their ability to combine between their careers and their families. They stressed on the importance of being determined to attain success, which helps in overcoming professional and personal challenges and achieves professional sustainability in the media sector, which is rife with rivalry and challenges.

Hayek

Hayek acclaimed female journalists, including mothers’, praising their ability to balance between their work and their family life. Citing a recent study in the United States, he said that a mother works 98 hours a week at her job and at home, which is 2.5 times the equivalent of a full-time job, enjoying a mere hour and seven minutes of time for herself per day. He then pointed out that Lebanese mothers working in Lebanon and in a Middle Eastern society, without a doubt dedicate much more than 98 hours a week for their work and for their families, given the huge responsibilities they handle.

To illustrate a mother’s love, he recalled a saying by Lebanese philosopher Gibran Khalil Gibran, “All hearts change with time, but a mother’s heart is a permanent paradise.”
